im feeling damn guilty today because of a freaking stupid mistake that i made at the ward today..

my victim was a lady whos nursing an ugly bruise on her hand due to yesterday's screw up by someone..

i was supposed to take blood from a patient from another bed but that patient was nowhere to be seen.. so i had to rush back to the tray to take the next form.. without checking that the tubes to be used has to be changed..

so i drew blood into EDTA and citrate tubes when the test actually requested for blood from a plain tubes (different tubes have different anticoagulants.. plain tube has none..)

i was still feeling relieved that i managed to get the tubes filled on first attempt when iris (the phlebotomist) discovered that i had drew blood into the wrong tubes..

the worst thing was that we cant pour the blood that was collected into the plain tube.. cos the blood was already mixed with the anticoagulants from the EDTA and citrate tube..

i had to control myself and thicken my skin to go in and tell the poor patient that we have to take her blood again..

man i felt so guilty i couldnt even bear to watch as iris took her blood.. just lost control and went outside the cubicle to cry..

i must have looked so stupid.. but hell i just couldnt stop feeling guilty about the stupid mistake that i made.. i should have double checked the tubes again before i drew the blood..

but i have to say that im lucky cause iris saved my skin.. she noticed the error before the samples were sent up to our dept ( lab medicine)..

since i came from dept of lab medicine.. i can imagine their fucked up attitude as they call up the the ward and give the nurses hell for sending down the wrong samples..

im so freaking careless...

luckily i got my dose of reality tv to cheer me up a lil..

ian and tom are in final four =)

finale is on monday.. i hope either ian or tom wins the million bucks..
