just finished reading marker.. its a damn nice novel.. with everything tied up nicely towards the end..
really like the book.. from the way it looks like from the outside.. to the reader friendly font.. finally a picture of robin cook that matches his current age.. guess hardcover books got its advantages too..
speaking of books..
i just realised a few days ago that ive been very confused about a certain book.. and its supposed to be my favourite book..
i recall reading a very very very good medical thriller when i was in sec sch.. the first medical thriller that i ever read.. and ultimately.. the one that got me hooked on to reading more and more of them..
the book was one of those with the black dot (chimmest category in my sch lib) on the spine.. couldnt understand a lot of those terms that were used.. vaguely remember the details of the story.. cept that it was something about ebola.. involving monkeys..
appearance wise.. it has a very simple looking black cover with a picture of a monkey smack in the middle..
and being the dumb me.. i couldnt remember the author's name.. and the title of the book is outbreak..
***
so i read more and more medical thrillers as the years passed.. and i settled for robin cook and michael crichton as my favourite author..
and so happen that robin cook had a book named outbreak.. and since writers for medical thrillers are like really rare.. i assumed that was the book that i read during my sec sch days..
and i believed that it was the book because theres just no other books from any authors that had the same title..
a few days ago i finally realised why i felt so puzzled when i was reading R.C's outbreak.. there wasnt the elaborate decontamination procedures that i loved reading so much.. there was only a few sentences in the book mentioning african monkeys and ebola..
but since they were there.. i just convinced myself that it was the book that i read in the past..
and i realised only a few days ago (frigging DUMB of me) that R.C's outbreak wasnt THE outbreak that i read donkey years ago..
and it was all by chance.. i was at a VCD rental shop the other day to look for nice movies to kill the time at home when i came across one movie named outbreak.. and that frigging monkey was on the sleeve of the disc..
the cover of the book and the disc sleeve look identical.. no diff.. exactly the same.. yada yada.
only did i realised that the outbreak book that i like is not the one that was written by R.C..
the book that i read was an adaptation from a movie of the same name.. starring dustin hoffman..
ARGH. im so frigging dumb.
did some research at home and i finally found out the name of the author who wrote that book.. and now i know..
robert tine - outbreak
...
...
i still cant believe how frigging dumb i am.
but no matter.. im going to hunt this book down and read it again.. so far.. not much hope.. the NLB doesnt have this book.. i cant believe it man. just like i cant believe how dumb i am.
this is so frustrating..

anyway.. i guess this is an excuse for my being dumb.. but i cant remember much from my sec one and two life.. except that it was horrible.. i dont know why i cant remember either.. i only realised in sec 4 when i was graduating, that i didnt have much impression of my lower sec sch life..
anyway.. that kinda explain why i was always in the library reading 'black dot' books anyway.. because i had no friend(s) to spend the recesses and breaks with..
in my highest record.. i read up to 4 black dot books in a week.. plus all the school work and stuff.. i just read and read.. compulsively reading.. all the time i had.. i spent it reading.. kinda takes my mind off things.. reading still has this effect on me now.. im trying hard not to go back to my old ways.. its unhealthy.. and thats an understatement for the compulsiveness..
so i was reading so fast that i couldnt even remember what books ive read and what were they about.. the only book that stood out was outbreak.. and the decon steps, ebola and the damn monkey was all i remembered from the book..
come to think of it.. i dont exactly have a happy childhood.. primary school life was horrible.. lower sec sch life was horrible too.. im really glad that i didnt turn out to be a really rotten kid..
kinda been a long entry.. and i feel really good after vomiting out the bad stuff.. guess ill talk about my horrible childhood next entry.. need to get it off me anyway.. especially after i told ch some of it the other day.. now its like halfway out with half of the bad stuff still in me waiting to be vomited out..
til then.. im off for grocery shopping..
