listening to jay - wa jie

mm.. everyday wednesday lesson i go away with lots of things that i wanted to say but never did..

this week was no exception..

first of all : I LIKE TO WATCH WAR MOVIES.

i guess it would make me look weird if i admitted to that when dr koh asked.. since no one in the class liked it.. and i actually cried or teared at almost every one of the war moves ive watched so far..

imagine saying that out in class. omfg.

and secondly : i feel really strongly for this movie. (saving private ryan)

its one of my favourite movies.. yes im serious. its not like i decided it in a moment of impulse or anything.. its been listed in my friendster profile as my favourite movie for as long as i can remember.. waaaaaay before this cranky WISP module..

i watched it waaaaaay back when i was in sec 2.. i dont understand how a teacher would show it to my class when we were in sec 2.. the movie was rated R(A) at that time..

but anyway.. if i were doing this thingy alone.. the following was what i would have prolly said.. its not anyone's fault that i didnt say it all out..

its just because i cant bring myself to open my emotions to everyone to read.. not even to close friends.. so even though i liked the movie so much and i actually teared while watching it.. i cant possibly tell cy that.. i just think its embarrassing to admit that..

what i would have said:

i really loved this movie and i think its a movie that is worth watching.

if you actually bothered to watch the show (seriously).. you would have seen the touching moments and story beneath all the gore and violence..

i dont know how people interprete movies really.. but the shaky camera scenes were really supposed to be like that.. its something that makes you feel as if you are there experiencing the war.. key word here is realistic.

although the scenes made me a tad dizzy.. i understand the director's (steven speilberg) intentions..

i would have mentioned more scenes if i could..

(1) captain miller (tom hanks) had a family back at home waiting for him. he was a teacher back at his hometown. he didnt ask to be thrown into this crazy mission of saving a paratrooper.. and he didnt complain.. not once. i really admired his character in the movie. superb acting by tom hanks.

(2) during one of the scenes where caparzo (vin diesel) died.. he knew he would get shot if he continued moving.. but he knew he was dying anyway.. and all he wanted was to ask his fellow team mates to help him send a letter back to his father back at home.. it was raining.. the letter was soaked with his blood.. one of his team mates had to help him re write the letter eventually.. because he cant possibly send the blood soaked letter home to the grieving father.. i actually teared during this part of the movie..

(3) jackson (barry pepper) is really impressive as a sniper.. his aiming is out of this world.. and he fought til the end.. he was at the bell tower busily shooting at the german troops.. the last thing he realised was that the tanker ( i dont know the term sorry) was pointing at him.. and he got blasted into pieces without being allowed time to react.. i really liked him in the show and i really felt sad that he had to die this way..

(4) the super timid guy in the show who couldnt even save his own team mate from being killed by a german soldier that he had let off earlier.. yes he is ball-less but who can really blame him for that? he was in the team only because he knew how to converse in german and french.. what do you expect from an admin guy who got dragged into the mission out of the blue?

(5) ryan could escape alive because he was smart and he managed to save his own ass.. but he had to live with the guilt of causing the death of captain miller and his team.. i teared again when he knelt down and cried in front of the grave.. was it his fault that they died? i dont think so..

so many things i feel deeply for in the movie..

i feel so much better after spilling it all out.. sorry for the improper tenses and the overflowing emotions.. i AM emotional.. and im just weird..

i can feel nothing for a kid that cries after falling down.. but i can feel so strongly over such things..

and sorry if i sound like im in a rush.. i am.. got to go bathe and read my beloved 8 days before catching the amazing race..
